sirens kill and eat humans, however they can technically eat any meat. sirens in human form often become anemic due to the lack of human blood though. atui receives blood transfusions often.

sirens are gender neutral in their biology. oftentimes, male sirens have breasts. sirens can cross breed with humans regardless of the humans gender or sex.

001.

he was born far from shore, in the deep-blue cradle of a warm-water trench, where the currents carry stories like whispers. his pod was small β€” tight-knit and cautious β€” the kind of family that relied on each other for safety as much as survival. from the start, he wasn’t like the others. while the younger sirens darted after fish or raced through coral tunnels, he would hover still, trailing his fingers along the edges of anemones, watching how their tendrils swayed. he memorized the shimmer patterns on scales, the exact rhythm of the tide against the rock walls.to his pod, his silence was strange. sirens were social, their voices a currency of power and survival β€” but he preferred humming to himself, soft sounds only he knew the meaning of. conversations confused him; he often didn’t realize when he was being teased or when a game had turned into something dangerous.he learned to avoid sudden currents and bright, chaotic gatherings. the sea could be loud in ways that hurt β€” storms thrashing the surface, whales’ calls reverberating through his bones, even the clamor of his own kind during hunts. he liked predictable waters: the hush before dawn, the low thrum of volcanic vents, the way light filtered green through kelp forests.

002.

as he grew older, he felt the pull of the surface. humans were… messy, but fascinating. their movements were unpredictable, but their songs β€” clumsy though they were β€” stirred something in him. he began to spend more time in shallower waters, sometimes letting himself be seen by fishermen or sailors just to hear the way their voices changed when they spoke of him.atui longed for music. not the sharp, echoing calls of his pod, not even the gentle thrumming of whale-song β€” though he loved those, too β€” but something else entirely. he didn’t know the word for it until much later.
the first time he heard it, he had wandered too close to the surface, hiding among seaweed just off the hull of a ship. the water was calm, and through the wooden belly of the vessel, he heard it: notes that rose and fell like the tide, but unlike any sound the ocean had made for him before. it was messy, imperfect, and yet it held shape. it was… human.
he stayed for hours, barely moving, letting the strange vibrations spill through the water into his bones. his fingers traced the rhythm against his arm without realizing. when the ship sailed away, it left an ache in him he couldn’t name.
he became obsessed with the way music sounded on land.

too many had already died, caught in nets or harpooned before they could sink beneath the waves. the elders called for a meeting. voices clashed like storms. some wanted to retreat into the deepest, unexplored waters β€” places even human greed couldn’t reach. others argued for scattering, breaking into smaller groups to survive.his mind could remember every melody exactly, replaying them in the quiet hours when the rest of the pod slept. music on shore was so different..his pod didn’t understand. sirens sang to lure or to warn β€” music for its own sake was useless. but atui felt human music differently. it was pattern and unpredictability at once, order hidden in chaos. it calmed him when the ocean was too loud, and it sharpened his focus when his thoughts tangled.when the industrial revolution began, the ocean changed. the currents tasted of metal. humans were building ships faster, bigger, stronger β€” and they were looking further out. every season brought them closer.
but there was a third idea, a dangerous one: shapeshifting, blending into the humans themselves. sirens had always had the magic to alter form for short periods, but living on land, among humans, was another thing entirely.
most saw it as unthinkable. atui saw possibility. and so he left.

by 2020, atui had been in the human world for longer than he’d ever spent fully submerged. he’d worn so many faces, lived so many small, borrowed lives, but one constant followed him through every city, every rented room: music. it had been his anchor in the noise and chaos of land life, the one thing that felt as natural to him as the pull of the tide.
when the pandemic emptied streets and silenced venues, atui found himself restless. the ocean was calling more loudly than it had in years, but so was something else β€” the need to make music, not just listen to it.
he reached out to others like him. sirens who had drifted far from their pods, some born on land to shapeshifted parents, some who, like him, had traded the deep for the surface centuries ago. they all carried the ocean in their bones, but each had their own sound β€” a voice roughened by salt air, a rhythm shaped by the push and pull of currents, a bassline that throbbed like the heartbeat of the sea.
together, they formed a band. not to lure sailors to their doom, but to write songs that tasted of brine and longing. they hid their siren nature well β€” to the public, they were just another alt-indie group with a strangely hypnotic stage presence and harmonies that felt almost too perfect. but under the flashing lights, every note was threaded with their magic, a whisper of the deep woven into chords and lyrics.
for atui, it was the closest thing to home he’d found in decades. on stage, surrounded by his own kind, the music didn’t just soothe him β€” it filled him, the way the ocean once had.
atui is described as being rather tall, around 6 feet. hes slim and has a sleeve of patchwork tattoos. he has his tongue pierced,as well as his angel bites and snakebites. atui has stretched lobes.face claim- kiru gashuu
